Hello World

I've now been home for over a month.  I've neglected writing on this thing for several reasons.  It just seems strange to write on here since i'm living life in America, things aren't quite as exciting to write about...also, you know anybody in the world could read this if they wanted to...doesn't that seem strange to anyone else?...and life is busy here.

Either way, I'll update you on what's been going on since I've been back.

The week after I got home I got in touch with a clinic here that I volunteer at because when I was in Salone, I got an email about a job opening that they had.  I just wanted to see if it might possibly still be available.  It was!....I applied...I prayed...I interviewed...I got the job.  It is a faith-based clinic with a really amazing ministry in Nashville.  They provide care for people who are uninsured...which include the poor and a lot of immmigrants.  They also work with the regugee population in Nashville.  I've been there for three weeks today.

Sierra Leone is on my mind everyday....even at times when I wouldn't particularly choose for it to be...like at 2:37am this morning when I got a Salone phone call from one of my friends.  I don't know what role Sierra Leone will play in my future.  I'm trying to balance not forgetting and keeping up with all that there was/is with SL and trying to focus on living in the present where I am.  The two worlds are hard to connect.

Next week, both of my roommates are moving out....Alicia to Bolivia, and Miriam to Adam's house (they're getting married!)...but i'm gaining a new roommate too....my little brother is moving in!  I'm looking forward to getting to hang out with Joe more.

OK....so email me and let me know how you're doing...I want to know.  I still have a long list of people that I want to connect with and catch up with...i'm just really slow about it.

I'm home!

I'm back in Nashville.  I got it Thursday night and was welcomed home by a bunch of crazy individuals that I love.

I'm glad to be home, but miss so many things that I left behind.

I'll write more soon.

I'm being a tourist for a few days

The coast of Britagne (Brittany in English...I think)  The water was so blue.

Lovely church in the country near the beach

A view of the water as I was picnicing on the wall of the walled city of Saint Malo.  I thought it looked kind of like heaven was shining down...my camera is really not that great.  Can  you believe that as I was sitting there a seagull came and knocked me in the head!  I was kind of scared of them after that.

Lydia and I eating gallettes at Mont Saint Michel (they're kind of like an omlette, except they have a really thin buck-wheat pancake on the outside)

Mont Saint Michel (I went there with my cousin Lydia and Aunt Bev)

Bread from the restaurant if we got hungry later!

Cool picture huh?  Some of the candles in one of the beautiful cathedrals we visited today.

cookin' up some Sierra Leonean chop with my cousin Laura
